RE:RE:Airlines you can collect aeroplan from - Check this out

Yeah thats what they need to grow, and what they say they're working on. WIth the air canada partnership, i'm sure they were limited in the arrangements they can make with other airlines in terms of redemptions, which may be why the Cathay Pacific redemptions are only for specific routes.  Point is they have lots of earning partners, and when the Air Canada arangement ends, there's a lot of irons in the fire for who they can parter with on the redemption side.

Given the buying power of the program, i imagine lots of these airlines will be more than wiling to step up.  Alternatively they might just make it more like Air MIles, where you can buy market fare flights from multiple airline partners... Why would one want to be stuck starting from scratch with an in house program with only Air Canada, when you can stay with Aeroplan, keep your existing points, and earn on multiple airlines around the world (not to mention retail and financial partners)  and then redeem those points for a wider range of flight options.. I don't know, I think AC messed up on this one in attempt to keep their stock price high now, but in the process they are going to piss off a lot of their loyalty customers which will come back to bite them in the cheeks post 2020... Unless of course the plan is to buy out Aimia at a discount.. either way, it's going to be an interesting ride!
