Fedeli reacts to new critics’ roles
With Ross Romano named the new Progressive Conservative critic for the Ring of Fire, Vic Fedeli of Nipissing wouldn’t be surprised if the rookie Sault Ste. Marie MPP is already planning a visit to the chromite site. He says the two biggest players at the site, Noront Resources and KWG have been very active recently at the site on their own no thanks to the Wynne Liberals.

“The government is a side thought now,” said Fedeli. “KWG is pushing forward with their rail idea with the China group and Noront is looking at the east-west road and also talking about a smelter in Northern Ontario.” Fedeli says Romano will hold the Liberals’ feet to the fire with this project. Fedeli has personally visited the Ring of Fire five times since first being elected an MPP and says he’d be more than happy to go again if Romano wants him along. Meanwhile Fedeli’s colleague in Parry Sound-Muskoka, Norm Miller, has an increased critic’s role. Brown named Miller the critic for natural resources and forestry in addition to keeping his responsibility as critic of northern development and mines. Fedeli says this tells him that Brown gets the north. “Patrick understands that Northern Ontario holds a lot of the keys to the solutions of the problems created in all of Ontario and that the resource sector can be a mighty and powerful sector,” Fedeli said. Brown made the appointments last Friday.
