RE:Dow-DuPont MergerI think you're really reaching to find any relevance there kidl. It's not the size of these companies that makes a difference in their competitiveness, it's their technology, their service organization, and of course their political connections.
Do you know where Dow's fuel marking business came from? ...they acquired it through their acquisition of Rohm & Haas nearly a decade ago. Here's what Rohm & Haas was marketing then....it's nifty, but not all that accurate:
Mortrace Rohm& Haas and subsequently Dow have not achieved market dominance in fuel marking like Authentix has because they don't provide the field support services their competitors do, the governments need to hire a subcontracotor or build out the organization to add the marker and test for the marker if they want to use Dow Accutrace. Further, Accutrace still requires a field GC/MS for accurate and court admisable analytical testing, which requires several steps of sample preparation and probably the better part of an hour to complete one analysis.
I remain 100% sure EDXRF is the slickest and quickest way to run these analysis.....the test results are available in about the same time it takes to fill a vehicle's fuel tank. I also believe SICPA's service organization has a strong global presence within many of the central governments around the world, and say what you will about the corruption allegations against them in certain jurisdictions.....I think it demonstrates they also know how to win biusiness in many different governments around the world. Even with all the publicity about the Brazilian beverage contract corruption allegations.....who continues to administer that program? ...SICPA
If this merger has any relevence to Eurocontrol, it's through Eurocontrol's interest in finding a partner for Croptimal.....in that maybe one of these giant agri-chemical companies would have an interest in teaming with a service organization to provide more accurate fertilizer recommendations.
