RE:LTE AGM report (posted from Twitter)We're the only true micro trench co. in the UK albeit we call it narrow trenching. I found out at the AGM that many years ago when they started micro trenching it was using a wet blade (water was used to coolk the blade) and the process caused millions of dollars of damage and general havoc. This is why they call it narrow trenching, so that they could get in the door.
We will not always be the only microtrencher in the UK, that's for sure. LTE is PROMOTING its process as the way to go. This might shock you "moat" guys but we co-developed an attachment tool that works just awesome in the narrow confidnes of many UK streets and we will be selling it to our competition. We want them to adopt our method of microtrenching even selling them an important piece of equipment (for a profit) but we won't train them in the LTE processes, which alludes to the fact that it takes know skill and know-how to do this well. This will be hard for doubters to believe, those who think you find a road and put down a saw.
I'd prefer there be a deep moat and that this work be needed and as difficult to do as rocket science. Longs wil just need to satisfy themselves that our lead is real and we're running with it. We have our own challenges in coming in out of nowhere, selling our process and now we have to get all of our staffing and training - training is KEY - we don't want to screw up anything and blemish a reputation needlessly. This is worth a lot of $.
Longs will also have to satisfy themselves that Virgin's project Lightning still has over 3m premises to pass. At an average of 500 British Pounds per premise x 1.7 FX x 3 million, the Virgin commitment for the balance of Lightning alone is C$2.5 Billion - plus many millions more in backbone work, whcih is connecting communities together and tying the fibre to the individual residences. We await tier one status that will allow us to be a Contractor and not have to work as a subcontractor, which was our way in through the door. This can come through anytime.
Virgin is just one of a number of Telecoms working hard to build super fast networks for today and tomorrow (esp tomorrow) and there is nothing faster than direct fibre, period. The biggest by far is former telephone monopolgy BT, which has way more work that needs to be done after dragging its feet for many years. They are addressing it now using technology that is (admitted by BT ) stop gap and how they ultimately choose to provide ultra fast network speeds is one question for the future. That is for the future, we need to focus on today!
