RE:RE:CRH'S CONFUSING ACCOUNTING? Help needed to understand this.foldinggreen wrote: Need help understanding this? First, the money paid to partners was accumulated in the previous quarter. That quarter, the 4th quarter, was the most they accumulated to pay to partners AND remember they pay that money in the first quarter. That 4th was the best quarter ever. It follows that the percentage paid to partners rises the most in the first quarter. Additionally, crh revenue is lower in the first quarter which also agrivates the split. Second, (another point) while the individual partners grow slowly (4% ?) , CRH also grows by aquisition. Those aquistions always knock down earnings. They had two in the first quarter, NONE in last years first quarter! So this years first quarter is hard to compare to last years. Actually, acqusitions killed their earnings. Again, the partners are NOT growing by acquistion so they don't have have that expense. Remember, CRH has used financing, cash and on one occasion stock for acquistions. I am pretty sure the cash they use for acquisitions reduced their earnings. Third, with no acquisitions, a smaller amount to pay to partners, and better revenue... this second quarter will look VERY GOOD...BTW...I have the SEDI numbers for march and I don't see the 5.7 million shares sold by David and Edward.
Perhaps 570K is closer? Can you check again?
The news today was a surprise! I hope the clarity to come is uplifting. Hope this helps.
The only thing that needs clarification is your point. What is it? Are you saying the management is crooked?
