At the Naatbatt back in November, 2016.......Larry was asked by Jim Goddard which car companies where there,
and Larry responded with: 
"Well That's interesting, I actually spoke to Ford, GM and Chrysler...."

I would speculate that there could be a reason why Larry mentions Ford first before any other car company.  Ford has always been conscious of their supply chain.  I remember taking a tour of a Ford remanufacturing plant back in the early 90's where old parts and engines would come in and they would "remanufacture" them.  Similar to what AMI is doing with EV batteries, maybe Ford and other car makers are starting to realize that a closed loop supply chain is vital to success in the new EV segment.
