RE:New to this boardPeople invest based on their estimation of risk and potential.  Most gold exploration companies are very high risk, unknown potential -- that's why their stock is cheap.  

GTT was high risk, unknown potential + strong evidence of possibly great potential.  That's why its stock was as high as 45 cents.  Now they hit gold with every hole, they've got more and better assays coming up, and they're testing another site that could potentially connect to the current site.  All of a sudden they are less risk and higher potential -- there's more of a floor under them, and more of a blue sky above.  Stock goes up.
