I got your point, I understand advertising (subliminal and all and why it works and why people spend trillions doing it, we are after all animals whose hunter gatherer instinct/need for survival has been replaced by the need for more things and the need to replace our existing (totally functional things( with so called better/more expensive things that don't last as long as things used too).  My point was I wish it was a better world.
