This was shortly after the ABCP fiasco in which National Bank took a huge hit on it's balance sheet and after the closed door hearings by IIROC, NB had to eventually pay $75 million in fines.
In the 2010 Annual Report, under the Financial Markets segment, the One Client One Bank strategy is well laid out under the heading, "Increase Focus on Canadian Mid-Market Companies".
"Financial markets is leveraging it's differentiation as a responsive solutions provider with a strong balance sheet to deepen relationships with Canadian mid-market companies and generate revenue growth. Organized around client needs, it has the ability to effectively deploy resources from corporate and investment banking, sales, trading and research to its target sectors in a coordinated fashion...".
In the 2011 Annual Report, under the Financial Markets segment, the One Client, One Bank strategy is the same and it's description is also much the same as the one in the 2010 Annual Report. Also included was one of the year's many highlights which was the Open Range reorganization:
-"engaged by Open Range Energy Corp as financial advisor on a strategic reorganization resulting in the creation of a separate, publicly traded dividend paying energy services company named Poseidon Concepts".
But in the 2012 Annual Report, something had definitely changed with the Financial Markets segment, which was very odd. The one Client, One Bank strategy was and still is ongoing, but it's description under the heading, " Continued Focus on Canadian Mid-market Companies" had changed dramatically.
" The Financial Markets segment's agility and full-service capabilities enable it to be an integrated solutions provider to Canadian mid-market companies...".
So the question is, why the drastic change in the description of strategy covering National Bank's Financial Markets segment whereas the overall strategy of One Client, One Bank has remained the same?

And who do you think was involved in this reorganization of the Old Open Range and ended up at Poseidon?
