RE:RE:RE:RE:Tomorrow's predictions
RE:RE:RE:RE:Tomorrow's predictions I think we're headed up. In the quarter, the payout ratio went from 126% to 118%, which is meaningful progress. Once the DRIP non-cash payout is accounted for, the payout ratio in the last quarter was 95%. That's sustainable, and the macroeconomics are working.
Wanting to make faster progress, the company chose to trim the dividend to 9.5 cents and eliminate the DRIP. Now the all-in payout ratio falls to 90%, and 2.75 cents of my cash stays in the company's bank account, for now. But it's still my cash being earned, and I still own it.
And those shareholders who did use the dividend to get more shares through the DRIP now will have to use their dividend to buy shares in the open market.
We're left with a sustainable 9% yield in a company which has been improving their payout ratio in an improving macroeconomic environment. I think we're headed up.
