I'd love an electric vehicle...... and I suspect I'll own one in my lifetime (as I figure I've got about 30 years of driving left in me...god willing!). The wife drives a Lexus hybrid SUV and I drive a Ram pickup truck. I much prefer driving the Lexus, but I want/need a truck. The light truck category has been increasingly outselling cars and is now almost 2:1 in N. America. The Ford F150 pickup has been the best selling vehicle for over 35 years?!?! People, and business, drive what they want/need at a cost they can live with. Electric cars are great and getting better...but they are still a ridiculously long ways off from a high production everyday truck that can go further than just around the block, or haul more than a bag of popcorn, or cost twice the price to buy in the first place. Big oil didn't kill the electric car the last time around, consumers did.
