RE:RE:RE:Energy excluding nuclear:Lithium will displace oil/gasolineAgreed. You need to be cautious about these types of predictions. My view is that electric cars will change the market dramatically in the next few years. But it is true that they are a very small market share now. But every electric car out on the road is a vehicle which for the next 10 years or so will not use a drop of gasoline. The impact is cumulative and the speed at which oil is displaced will depend on the adoption of the mass market manufacturers like Ford and Toyota and GM. All will start mass production of electric cars around 2020. So definitely NOT an immediate change but I suspect it will be faster than many contemplate.
My main concern as an investor is banking on these vehicles using Lithium. Technology has a habit of proving many predictions wrong and I suspect future electric vehicles will be powered by supercapacitors not batteries. But we shall see.
Good observations though and it underscores one of the fundamentals of contrarian investing which is that the commodity has no easy substitutes. For Uranium that is true for the foreseeable future with Lithium...not so sure about that.
Great investing all.
