Aphria, which is headquartered in Ontario, produces and sells medicinal and recreational cannabis. The company operates through retail and wholesale channels in Canada and internationally. Aphria is a main distributor of medical cannabis to Germany and has operations in over 10 countries outside of Canada. Ohio Licenses likely won't be issued until Nov. 2017

Ohio Licenses likely won't be issued until Nov. 2017 Sunny,

A while back I predicted that Ohio licenses might not be awarded until November 2017 based on the following two reasons.

  1. The applications don't indicate when licenses will be awarded; and
  2. The Ohio Department of Commerce faced a December 2017 deadline to issue licenses because growers have nine months to meet the requirements of the license and state law requires the program be operational by September 2018.
Working backwards I came up with a November 2017 deadline for awarding licenses.

It now looks like Ohio State Regulators have set a November target for awarding medical marijuana cultivation licenses which might delay Ohio's new program beyond its September 2018 deadline.  With the shortened window of nine months between the time licenses are awarded and the September 2018 launch date there might not be sufficient time for growers to build their facilities and be operational.  This may delay the start of the program past September 2018.  Hopefully not, but if delayed, I'm thinking January 1, 2019 is a more realistic start date for growers to start selling.

Ohio plans to award medical marijuana cultivation licenses in November. Could that delay the program?
