RE:shareholder alignment plus other stuffHi 20,
There is considerable alignment of interests between A and B shareholders as the Voting Trust families own approximately 27% of the total equity of Torstar. The only problem is trying to find one of them that reached into their own pockets to acquire their shares.
Investors and employees who have spent their hard earned dollars to acquire shares at well north of $1.26 are sick about the value destruction that has continued unabated since Honderich assumed the helm of Torstar. Take a sobering look at the share price chart on the Torstar website and plot the date Honderich became chair.
We don't necessarily need the stars to align - we need the Voting Trust to emerge from its stupor and act in the best interests of all shareholders. Currency and advertising rates are transitory. Getting rid of Honderich will have a meaningful and lasting effect on the fortunes of everyone invested in the future of Torstar.
