RE:About nunclear accidents

RE:About nunclear accidentsThe public perception of nuclear power is that it is dangerous and rates right up there with air travel on the public perception of risk. The ACTUAL risk of being killed by a nuclear plant is about as close to zero as you can get. The public does not consider driving to be dangerous and yet here are the real statistics:

"Nearly 1.3 million people die in road crashes each year, on average 3,287 deaths a day. An additional 20-50 million are injured or disabled. More than half of all road traffic deaths occur among young adults ages 15-44"

So it seems we as a world population are very comfortable wiping out our young people on a daily basis on the roads but throw our hands up in horror when Fukishima occurs and kills...well no-one.

The media of course is full of anti-nuclear activists who do not have a science degree between them yet pontificate about the hazards of radiation. They themselves are radioactive of course. Their bones are comprised partly of potassium which contains the radioisotope calee Potassium 40.

As a result I no longer read newspapers and have zero trust in any media outlets to actually tell the truth without putting their spin on it.

So that is the reason people THINK nuclear is dangerous when in fact it is THE safest way to produce electricity every devised. Even safer than solar or wind. Of course you do not hear about the people killed installing solar or wind. Strange that.

And of course lest we forget the tens of thousands of people killed in the Union Carbide distaster at Bhopal India and the many thousands more maimed for life.Did we shut down chemical plants....don't think so. But based on people killed one would think the media and GreenPeace would be mounting vigorous campaigns to do that.

But all of this plays to the investors advantage since contrary to the media poppycock there are more nuclear power plants under construction in the world than at any time since the 1970's.
Unfortunately not in North America...but we will pay the price for that and will be buying our plants from China...just like the UK is.
