Carpenter, someone like Davey would be much more suited to being VP business development or head of regulatory or product management. He is not CEO material. To be CEO of a public company you should be well aware of market expectation, build shareholder value/increase shareholder total return, operate efficienty, etc. As for growth and scale, just look at what happened to gold companies like Kinross - I know they are very different industries but if you don't manage cost and care about earnings the stock crashes sooner or later.
