Apart from the SEDAR database for reports; canadianinsider.com; shortdata.ca; and YouTube are great resources to get the full picture when doing your DD. Admittedly, I missed the increased short interest as of Aug 16th when I bought so I got in too early.
I think shorting is partially to blame as it probably got the snowball rolling and then stop-losses got triggered on the way down. Check out Shortdata.ca. I would expect that the short volume have increased even further in the last 14 day period and we will find out in a few days.
In terms of warrants, there were 7.8M outstanding as at June 30th, all with a strike price of 35 cents. There are some options as low as 10.5 cents but not enough to account for all the volume we have seen lately.
