Fortescue Group and Witwatersrand Supergroup

Fortescue Group and Witwatersrand SupergroupI finally decided to try to find out if the Fortescue Group rocks dip in the same direction as the Witwatersrand Supergroup rocks. They do; both dip south. But, have the original dip orientations been disrupted by the break-up of Gondwanaland? It seems not. Gondwanaland breakup models show that continental drift has translated Australia and Africa apart. Rotation has been relatively insignificant. .. One could speculate that the Witwatersrand gold-bearing rocks, and the Fortescue are part of the same mega-geological event. That would add weight to Dr Hennighs idea of the Karratha gold being Wits II. .. But, India was between Africa and Australia, in Gondwanaland. How does that affect the model? That could be a topic for more research, and another post.
