You are incredibly naive if you believe the 20% government share is going to the people. Just the opposite. It will go into the pockets of powerful officials and their network. It will be used to buy arms to oppress the people. All with a veneer of legality of course. This is the only thing that bothers me about the project. Together with the 35% tax rate, the Kabila dictatorship gets 48% of the profits. And those profits will be used to hurt people. There is no getting away from it. IVN has gotten into bed with the devil. You could argue that had IVN not stepped up to do business, someone else would have. But that's not true. Without the initiative of RF, this project would probably never have gotten off the ground. So, IVN shareholders will pocket their 25.74% of the profits, after tax. Yet common people will pay the price in blood. It's capitalism at it's most ruthless.
