More about Joshua Young and Carter Higley co directors of Bison Interests LLC. First it seems that their favorite investments are in junior, unloved oil and gas companies. Well I guess that Chinook fits their specialty to a tee. What is also very worthwhile knowing is that they are very successful at what they do. Either that or they are awfully damn lucky. As the one article says their fund was up 40% which is not too shabby!

On page 4 of the Fund was up 40% at the time of writing and it had $40 million in assets. Now consider for a moment Bison invested in Chinook buying 26,531,678 shares. That equates to $7,905,503 canadian dollars if they purchased shares at $0.30 per share. At US$ to CDN$ of .80 to 1.00 that is still $6,324,402 or as high as 15% of their holdings. Of course these numbers could well have changed for instance they may have paid more than $0.30 per share or they may have attracted more capital to their investment fund. They may somehow have paid less but I doubt that very much as there was not a great amount of trading before they announced their 12% ownership of Chinook. For this fund this is a serious and well considered investment.

Bison Interests’ Bison Energy Opportunity Fund LP, which focuses on oil and gas producers, has gained about 40 percent so far this year through July, according to a person familiar with the matter. The fund, which has about $40 million in assets and started in the middle of last year, was up a little more than 1 percent in July and returned 2.2 percent in June, the person said. The fund benefited from a stake in Painted Pony Petroleum Ltd., a Canada-based energy company that's up 148 percent so far in 2016, the person said, adding that the fund sees opportunity in small-cap oil and gas companies that trade in Canada.
