RE:Let's organize, contact mgmt, then media - my # of sharesLet me preface this by saying I'm not at all trying to discourage you or anybody from taking action to protect your investment. In fact, I feel far too many people do the exact opposite, which is simply biatch and moan and hope things change.
Having said that, here are some truths:
- Management is not - and should never be - accountable to shareholders. Management is accountable to the Board of Directors, and the BOD is accountable to the shareholders
- Whatever your complaints, it's unlikely the BOD will take them seriously. They wil have a longer term strategy that they aren't going to deviate from simply because some shareholders are upset about the stock price.
- The goal of management is to deliver positive performance results. The job of the BOD is, supposedly, to deliver value to the shareholders. The timeline for delivering this value is never set in stone. It's almost invariably longer than most shareholders are willing to put up with.
So you'll never get your sit down with Davey, except and unless it's with him as a member of the Board.
And you'll be unlikely to get a sit down with the Board simply by saying you represnt a small fraction of shareholders.
What could be somewhat effective is to gather a list of shareholders and their holdings and pen a letter to the Board asking for more clarity regarding their plans to deliver shareholder value. I don't think it would work, as they're not going to share anything with a small group of shareholders that hasn't been shared publicly. But it'll be far more effective than trying to demand Management or the BOD do what you say.
At the end of the day, this company is run by people, and there are people on the Board. They're not all going to be geniuses, but they're not all going to be idiots either. There's a good chance most of them understand what needs to be done to bring this company to profitablilty. Whether or not they can execute is another question, but I'd put it to you - what makes you or your group of shareholders better suited to do it? I'm really not trying to be a jerk - it's a question that's worth asking.
If you can assemble a group and come up with an effective way to try to move things forward I'm all for it. But I truly believe your initial proposition won't fly.
