I wish the PR would be accurate, not that it isn't good newsThe constitutional court, that is higher than the supreme court in Guatemala,
lifted the suspension on closing THO's silver mine, while the CALAS Xinca
indigenous case to close the mine permanently, is heard, taking a year to consult
and possibly have the Xinca vote on it. According to UN's international indigenous
rules referring to C169 indigenous resolution, for the world.
The lower supreme court didn't lift the ban on THO that it initiated, while the case
takes a year to resolve.
So it is good news, but not a complete victory yet. Until the year is up and the
surrounding indigenous Xinca people is determined whether they can vote or not,
on closing THO's silver mine permanently.
This is not a slam dunk and THO's knows it, and should be more cautious with its
PR.
