RE:RE:ChacenAces, Wizard of Aggregate KilogramsYep, yep, yep. And one of the more important aspects of scaling that you didn't mention is the ability to service customers in a meaningful way.. Canopy has invested substantially in the service aspect of scaling up more than any other LP by a large margin. That's gonna be pretty important moving forward imho...
ChacenAces wrote: Well the reality is its not that simple. Its more than just square feet....its also the amount and type of lights (yield per watt)...its dependant on the particular strain you are growing in that square foot...indoor vs outdoor in terms of the amount of harvest per year...aeroponics or soil growth...single level or multiple level grow in a particular room. Its an incredibly hard number to be accurate on.
Having said that there are multiple studies that have measured this from multiple producers accross all platforms and it ranges as best I can tell from the research I have come accross anywhere from 20-60 grams per square foot. Personally I have always used 40 grams per square foot when it comes to monkey math predictions such as this which pretty much lines up exactly with Canopy's predictions coincidently lol.
MONKEY MATH
- 2,175,000 square feet by July 2018 X 40 grams per square foot = 87,000,000 grams / 87,000 kgs per harvest.
- 87,000 kgs per harvest x an average of 2 harvests per year = 174,000 kgs per year. 2 harvests per year on average may be low though.
ITS IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER THIS IS MONKEY MATH WITH SO MANY VARIABLES AND ASSUMES PERFECT GROWING CONDITIONS ON THE GREENHOUSE AND NO SCREW UPS.
Time will tell and Canopy so far has been stellar in scaling up but I cant imagine growing at 2 million plus scale with out a few hiccups. But no LP is even close to overcoming the learning curves this takes like Canopy has...in fact I don't think there is a single other LP who has even attempted to grow at Canopy's current scale. Most investors in the other LPs don't even consider this point...they are in for a rude awakening as they bring the comparable (to Canopy) square footage on board and attempt to grow in it. At this point from a scale up perspective there is only one horse in the race...the other 1 million this 1 million that LPs haven't even entered the race yet...they all have their virtues but none have proven they can scale up to this degree let alone enter the race once their various sky facilities have completed.
