RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:No real news yet??Drrwong, if AAMI, SGNA, and AORN all reach consensus that GI scopes must be terminally gas sterilized, then each hospital SPD will still have to make the decision whether or not to change "standard of practice" for how they reprocess scopes if not in the scope IFU (gas sterilization as the final step). However, if CMS and TJC Surveyors/Inspectors are focused during on audit on confirming a match between scope reprocessing IFUs and the methods used for reprocessing, the facility could still get "dinged".
People keep raising the Steris System 1E as an example of a reprocessing system not endorsed by Olympus, however Olympus does explicitly state on their "Alerts and Statements" website that "The use of STERIS SYSTEM 1E does not by itself void the Olympus new product warranty for damage caused by faulty materials or workmanship." Can TSO3/Getinge get Olympus to make the same statement for the VP4 and post it on their website? That might alleviate SPD management concerns about impact on warranty when running their scopes in the process.
