RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Avigilon Blue, a New Subscription-based Cloud Service

RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Avigilon Blue, a New Subscription-based Cloud ServiceOld dude. Here's the deal. DoD  may be ok with putting vehicle maintenance manuals on the cloud, but given the rooms I have been in, I know the very sensitive stuff isn't on the cloud. When your in a vault looking at stuff, there's a reason why you were not able to look at from a desk in the same building.

just look at ALL the publicially released hacks and you soon see why the net is not for true secure storage. Also and this is often over looked. If your on the net, you can open up your network without having a clue. Because technology moves so fast, you have no effective control over what is hung onto or tapping into a network. A hacked router made in China, that camera, software with back door from some 99% era and on and on. You want a secure network, you do not go on the web or if you do, it's not with the features you expect from the web.  Do I trust any software or hardware company, employee, etc ? No.  Closed network can't leak or be hacked. A snowden may come along and that story tells you that the material he was accessing was on a closed network!!! He needed a flash drive to suck up ththe info.

The security of the security department and that of the company or agency is paramount. I have not seen a fed department have their camera or card access security system on the web. Simple as that and there is no reason for it to be on there.

So again, if you are a large company or fed department and want to deploy today's extremely bandwidth heavy cameras, you must be conscious of not only security but bandwidth.  Remember when avo came out with motion picture quality cameras?  I said, wow that will be great. Didn't last long did it. Now they have same bandwidth as all the others. You think your getting a 17 mega pixel cam streaming video over the net?

The other factor I have mentioned and still appears to be an issue is. Should avo focus on cameras or try and get into all the other fast paced and very expensive technologies?  Sell tires to all the car companies or try and sell tires and compete with all the car companies who may like to use your tires but now view you as a competitor.   All the best
