In my opinion, the most powerful tool we have as "retail" investors is our own due diligence and our own commitment to our longer term perspectives. I've spoken to co-workers and friends in the past year who hear my enthusiasm and buy in without a second though without looking into the company themselves. I'd never, ever, do that. So they're in now, and i'll say "Did you hear about the latest news regarding X deal?" and they won't have a clue what i'm talking about. Then they ask why the sp is moving the way it is. What am i supposed to say to that?

Today Canopy announced a deal with a very small company with some interesting patents which may or may not prove to contribute to the top line at some date in the future. Is it realistic to expect that deal to move the sp in significant way considering it's proportional relevance? I'd say no. But as a long, it's another significant and cumulative step in the journey. I don't give a feck whether or not it moved the sp today, but i love it.

I am done.

Also, i am not wearing any pants.

I'm not sure how long you've been in the game etc, but I've been watching stocks pretty closely for about a year and a half now, the MJ stocks in particular. In my humble opinion, we will never know the truth behind any given move in SP for any stock. Sure, there are times when there is an important NR with a subsequent move where you can say "THe sp went up/down because of "X" factor". But in my experience, the market is far too complex to say unequivocally what moved the sp. The fact is, there are literally thousands of people, (longs, shorts, day traders) funds, algorithms etc entering and exiting any given stock all day, each and every day. Every one of these parties has their own strategies and intentions with their buys and sells. You would have to ask each party what their motivations and intentions were for every trade they made to come to any scientific conclusion or even general consensus as to what happened on any given day. Obviously that would be an exercise in futility.

How many times has the SP gone up on no news where we wonder where the buying is coming from? Is it technicals? Is it renewed buying after the summer holidays? Does somebody know something the rest of us shmucks aren't aware of? That being said, you could probably rank a hierarchy of factors which are more important. Like say, technicals, news, day of the week, time of the month, the current trend, the direction and strength of the current trend, long term trends in the overall market of the stock in question, geopolitical influence, overall stock market performance domestically and internationally, posts on stockhouse (lol) etc etc...

All i'm saying is, while it's interesting to speculate on the "Truth" behind any given price move, you will never, ever, really know. It is all speculation. No more, no less.

Anyhoo, good ruck all.

CGC for Forking Ever.
