29 September 2017, London, UK

Benchmark Mineral Intelligence has been asked to testify at a US Senate hearing in Washington D.C.  on battery technologies and their supply chains.

The hearing will take place next Tuesday, 3rd October, by a US Senate Committee on Energy & Natural Resources. Benchmark’s Managing Director, Simon Moores, will give a written and verbal testimony advising on the the supply chain risks and opportunities from a global energy storage revolution.

While lithium, cobalt, graphite and nickel have bright futures, an evolution from niche into mainstream has to take place to supply the rise of the lithium ion battery. Moores will be advising on how these niche mineral industries will have to evolve to meet future demand and the risks this poses to US supply security.

He will also discuss the constrained flow of capital that is slowing progress for new mineral supply, technical and market risks that are impacting the energy storage revolution.

The full written testimony can be read and downloaded below after the hearing, while a video of the hearing will be available to view after Tuesday 3 October.
