RE:Stringent Gun Laws!Illum,
I had you on ignore for a long time.
But off late you have started making good points albeit inconsistently.
One advice if you would want to accept - paraphrase and write in a structured manner. I think you may be able to add lot more value to this board.

I'm sorry select I have you on ignore and have to figure out how to get you off. But as to your point from a Criminological perspective here is what people need to know at least crim100--it is not the severity of the law but the certainty and the swiftness that is the real factor to deterrence. When people don't associate with being caught or things take a long time to make it to justice they are forgotten and people who think they can get away may not care--so certainty and swiftness more so than stringent/harsh penalties is more so the key. Now there are two types of deterrence--general and specific deterrence. Yes, the type of people who are literally on a suicide runs, have a death wish or whatever the case may be will never be deterred by stringent gun laws that is absolutely correct. Nevertheless, in the cases where people are shot to death any others who think that they will get away may think twice that those who have caused mass damage and carnage were killed that is unless the assailant doesn't turn the gun on themselves. But with this said that is why this company and the tech are so invaluable--when people realize there is a swiftness to their actions and those who may think they can get away without being taken down but realize it is no longer the case will definitely dare to rethink things through. Others as we are seeing know that the conventional forms of bombs and guns may be tougher and tougher to carry out are using vehicles to cause damage. I don't have a solution for that. But no matter what, the more defensive tools you have at your disposal the tougher and tougher it becomes for people who go on a killing rampage to carry it out. Again, one needs to keep in mind the swiftness and certainty of justice as well as the concepts of general and specific deterrence!
