MORE NEWSTouchStar, Intrinsyc to Develop Next Generation Solutions for Mobile Computing
VANCOUVER, BC, and TULSA, OK, Oct. 19 /CNW/ - TouchStar Technologies, a
unit of Williams (NYSE:WMB), announced today an agreement with Vancouver,
Canada-based Intrinsyc (CDNX:ICS), to integrate Intrinsyc's customized,
embedded computer technology with TouchStar's next generation of commercial,
mobile-computing products. Financial terms of the agreement were not
disclosed.
The new products will provide customers with a wide variety of computing
solutions in the industries of field services, sales force automation and
remote point-of-sale.
Under terms of the agreement, Intrinsyc's embedded technologies will
assist in the development of TouchStar's next generation of mobile-computing
platforms, providing customers with mobile devices that have dramatically new
and versatile application opportunities that can be remotely monitored and
centrally managed.
"We are delighted to be working with Intrinsyc," said Mark Morelli,
president of TouchStar. "This collaborative effort will enable TouchStar to
further enhance its reputation for leading-edge product design and the
development of innovative, application-specific peripherals."
The combination of Intrinsyc's electronic and software technology,
including Intrinsyc's CerfBoard(TM) design, and TouchStar's reputation for
developing and building rugged industrial hand-held computers, promises new
platforms with lower costs of ownership, Morelli said.
"High volume mobile markets such as the field service and sales force
automation industries require exciting new technology in order to stay
competitive," said Neil McDonnell, president and chief operating officer for
Intrinsyc. "Our work with TouchStar clearly illustrates the cross-market
applicability of Intrinsyc's embedded solutions and we're pleased to help them
build innovative, robust products that can be used to improve efficiency and
productivity for customers."
The first products developed under the agreement will be shipped in
limited quantities in December.
