Good to see some American interest in OFDMI was starting to think only the Europeans and Japanese had the intelligence to recognize the potential of OFDM and 4th generation wireless communication. Now that MOT and Sprint seem to be getting involved, I'm changing my point of view. I still think the Europeans are going to implement 3G and eventually 4G years before the Americans. Look at the Euro-centric makeup of the OFDM Forum. Instead of hoping for a big deal with an American telco, like Sprint, or US West, WIN should be focusing their marketing machine on Europe or Japan. Let's hook up with a Vodafone ( I don't know the names of an Japanese telco's). I wonder if WIN has an office in Japan?
In any case, I don't expect any big deals for a while longer. Wow-Lan, don't yell at me! That is my opinion, based on my reading of the broadband wireless market. It will be 6-12 months before a big telco is ready to pick one technology and invest the hundreds of millions of dollars needed to build their network. It'll happen in Europe first because the telco's have already purchased the spectrum from the various governments. Now the telcos have to start providing the wireless services or their multi-billion dollar investments won't be generating any revenue for them!
