The press release I just reread clearly states they paid $8,260,000 for the Pilot Plant AND the IP rights (note: RIGHTS) to production of silicon metal from Quartz. It does go on to say they have already paid $1,000,000 but that is part of the package and NOT the stated cost of the IP rights. I would also see the PUREVAP process would be used for other processes and HPQ only acquired the IP rights for the Quartz to Silicon process. I assume the patent would apply to the other uses as well as to HPQ's and I gather Pyrogenisis has the patent pending and not HPQ. It also states it is clear that the unification of the IP rights and the feedstock quartz under one umbrella was necessary for future commercial and finacing purposes. Waddaya say? All IMHO.
