RE:RE:A Sad DayBombardier was between a rock and a hard place. To stay number 1 or 2 in business jets requires cash. To scale up the CSeries requires cash and lots of it. To revamp the CRJ requires cash. Rail is the one asset that’s generating cash but not enough to make up for the lacklustre business jet market for the past 10 years, the decline in the CRJ and Q400, and the investment in 3 different aircraft programs at once. Bombardier had to make some key decisions to protect the CSeries program and aerospace in Quebec and partnering with Airbus to gain scale and buying power was the right move. They bet the company on the CSeries and buckled at the knees under a series of poor decisions and a level of investment that was too much to handle. Now they can focus on business jets first and decide the best course of action for rail and CRJ (I’d sell the Q400 program and re-engine the CRJ to beat Embraer. I’m sad that they couldn’t pull it off against Boeing and airbus but pride alone couldn’t fix this conundrum.

100% in agreement with you. Do they have the nessary guts? that's another story. Trudeau should say to Boeing:
«you witdraw your complaint against the Cseries and we block the Airbus-Bombardier deal».
We now have some leverage against Boeing. Why not use it to preserve this wonderful product and our natioinal pride?
