My understanding was that the "guys from essel" have a substantial ownership position in Essel. If they sold at todays prices it could be viewed as paper loss for them. I don't know what tax implications they have, maybe it could have a tax loss advantage for them.
I have always been long on this stock. But I have been concerned that Essel doesn't see any need for the small investor and will try to get rid of us without paying the true value for the properties. The delays in releasing the Sproule report on heighten my concerns.
With this companies lack of transparity, we all can only speculate.
