My understanding is you cannot link your margin and TFSA accounts. Sure I have to pay taxes on capital gains, but it is (more than) offset by the ability to use margin. That being said, you are at liberty to lose a lot more with margin as well.

Especially when you are young and are only able to put a small amount of dollars into your TFSA.
