RE:RE:Nice work if you can get it!Agard,
It would be interesting to know how you see Atkinson "has done a lot to move the company forward" , whereas on the surface it looks like anything but that.
There is always the strong possibility the premise for this enterprise may well have been a lousy one from the start. But for the fun of it, let's momentarily pretend it was a smart idea.
Again, we're talking DECADES ago, but as you may well remember there was, (and still is no doubt) major political opposition from local residents and politicans. That opposition stopped this thing dead in its tracks for years. Was that ever anticipated? Was Atkinson evenly remotely capable of swinging some sort of deal? Apparently from the many years lost...no.
When you start going down the list of EPA denials, the Cortina band itself putting up obstacles, forced into bed with a very possibly stinky old Ratto, you really come away with the thought that there are forces who defintely do not want this to happen.
Still assuming this landfill is actually a good idea, should we not take a strong and stern look at the man in charge. I know Atkinson views himself as intelligent and adroit, and yet in relation to the opposition in California these last 24 years, he seems neither. Instead, he seems to have been batted around down there like a beaten up tennis ball. 24 years of bad luck? Maybe, but unlikely.
I'm sure there's a chance this may pan out. And equally as sure it won't. No matter the outcome, unless provided evidence otherwise, my view of our "CEO" is pretty much at dirt level.
