RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:10 Top Reasons to BUY ORV Right Now!!! Reason #52fast4uI,

You are right.  GPL reported an AISC per silver ounce of $13.75, and a realized silver price of $16.99 USD. And their management's discussion and analysis starts out with a table showing their $5.82 per ounce cash cost per ounce of silver.
Quite impressive at first glance, and it is almost enough to make you think that GPL is a low cost producer.

They sold 552,218 ounces of silver times $16.99 USD per ounce to generate silver revenue of $9,383,000 USD, right?
Wrong answer!  You have to subtract the smelting and refining charge of $1,298,000 USD which gets you down to adjusted silver revenue of $8,085,000 USD or $14.64 USD per ounce of silver sales.  That is what they take in on a by product basis.

So the margin per ounce of silver is only 89 cents on 552,218 ounces, so they made $492,000 on an AISC by product basis.
Then when you add in non sustaining exploration costs, and the care and maintenance expense for CMC in Peru, the tiny profit turns into a loss of $666,000 USD.
