RE:Diversify ... and I'm not talking about your portfoliio

RE:Diversify ... and I'm not talking about your portfoliioExcellent comments.  Yes, Canada needs to diversify and reduce the high dependency (70%) of trade with the USA.  Perhaps an initial short term target would be 50% and then even less over time.

In this regard, the trade benefits of CETA and the potential TPP should be fully exploited by Canada.  Other trade agreements may also be in the works, according to some news sources.

Also, Canada needs to explore more value-added goods and services. Let’s stop exporting raw materials and then import finished goods.  There may be significant opportunities for Canada as the world transitions to a low-carbon economy...for example electric vehicles.

Also, Bombardier should be leading the charge (yes pun intended) for new transportation technologies such as the HyperLoop.  Furthermore, lower-speed variations of the hyperloop technology can used for installing new urban transit routes, thus reducing the construction costs and timelines, maintenance costs, operating costs etc. of these transit lines.

I have worked for a US company, spent many weeks in US cities, have US friends from north to south and east to west, sh!t, I even have property in the US.
I was jsut there for a few weeks and had a great time.

It was very distressing to see my close 'ally' and 'friend' agressively distance themselves. Truthfully, we have been drifting apart for some years. Special interest groups are slowly but surely splintering what was once the 'greatest nation on earth' (sic) and things (in general) continue to detioriate. The tipping point it seems was the 2016 election.

Will we become best buds again ... I guess time will tell.

But, with time, we move on, potentially drifting further apart, no longer 'knowing' each other. Different interests, values and yes 'friends'.

TPP breakthrough link

We now have our newly minted CETA deal, TPP once looked like it would never happen, but ...
it seems may actually happen (and on some strong 'Canadian terms').

With 70% of our trade currently south of the border, we are exposed. But it seems, perhaps not forever, and perhaps sooner rather than later.

I am not sure what 'great' the US wants to be 'again', but it appears it will only be in its own eyes.
Best of luck my American friends.  It is with some sorrow that I see us drift apart, you've been good to me, and I to you.

In the end, we will have a very different relationship. Oh what could have been ...sad.
