ShortsWhen the share price drops below $3.00 it no longer qualifies for margin, at least with TD Waterhouse. A few weeks ago I received a large margin call when Pony dipped below $3.00 for a week or two. I didn't  have to sell Pony but I'm sure a lot of others couldn"t cover their calls.
It's obviious to me that Pony's stock price is controlled by shorters and short term traders and my best guess is that they would love to bring the price back down to below $3.00 again for a few weeks in order to set off another margin call before they settle their shorts. Almost every day there is dumping right before close to drop the share price down. The drop in the price of oil has helped them as well.
