Alberta rig activity spikes

Alberta rig activity spikes
Canada's active rig count rose by 22 on Friday, with more rigs heading back to work in Alberta while activity in Saskatchewan was flat. 
 
There were 228 rigs at work Friday morning compared to 206 at the close of last week. Friday’s rig count corresponded to an activity rate of 36 per cent, up from 33 per cent a week ago, according to Rig Locator.
 
There were 165 rigs at work in Alberta this morning, up 19 rigs from 146 a week ago. There were 34 active rigs in Saskatchewan today, even with the close of last week.
 
Tourmaline Oil Corp. was the most active operator on Friday morning with 14 rigs at work. Cenovus Energy Inc. and Encana Corporation each had 11 active rigs.
