If Aphria were to move quickly they could easily triple or quadruple their capacity overnight.
One of the intersting things I learned from interviewing black market growers is that a number of them start plants indoor and then move them to crown or other land in June to finish them outdoors. Apparently starting them indoorsserves two benefits:
1. It extends the Canadian summer growing months which are a bit tight to have the plants thrive if grown start to finish outdoors.
2. In theory you could plant 4 times as many plants that you would normally fit in your indoor grow. As plants mature and grow bigger and bigger they require more space. So in theory next Spring Aphria could plant 4 times as many plants as they would normally given the amount of space they have developed in the greenhouse. Once June rolls around 3 of every 4 plants are removed from the greenhouse and transported to the Mersa Rd outdoor farm for finishing. This would allow the normal expected crop to have plenty of room to finish in the greenhouse providing zero risk to our anticipated yield. Should the transplanted plants thrive as I would anticipate they would the end result is next Springs crop is 400% bigger than expected with very little capital needed.
IMO Vic has really blown it with the US expansion plans which I see continue to haunt us. Well he has been given an unbelievable opportunity here and if he is half the CEO you all say he is, he should immediately announce his plans to capitalize on this. 2018 is a once in a lifetime opportunity where pretty much everything grown should be sold. No one has the advantage that Aphria has here, we need to capitalize. Please don't blow this Vic.
