RE:RE:Looks like we are getting started with 78 units in Van...The way I read it is when they issued the PR, Vancouver's city council had just approved (the night before) their staff's recommendation to authorize the 'Vancouver Affordable Housing Agency' to negotiate with HNL for up to 600 units destined for that city.
That article I posted alludes to this having now progressed to the MOU stage (Memorandum of Understanding) which would not necessarily warrant a PR just yet
The article also reports that 78 are going to be delivered by Christmas by HNL suggests to me that all 600 will be awarded to HNL and is likely a foregone conclusion (those are my words and my opinion)
Perhaps they will want to see how HNL meet their timeline, quality controls etc before officially awarding the balance after these first 78, so it could be there is no PR until if and when the all 600 become a definitive agreement
Or it could be they are still working out how many of which size for the rest or where they will all be located or any other logistics details before a contract for all is finalized
This company doesn't PR much which has been surprising at times given how significant the 2 large projects in Revelstoke were this past year and the new hotel in Oliver to be constructed first half of '18 ..no PR's ... guess they'll let the Q reports do the talking
I wouldn't hold your breath for one on these 78 units unless all 600 get under contract in the interm ... I guess 78 is not significant enough to tell us about
They PR camp/oil service related news but that we are now dabbling in construction services with government $ as the primary driver/customer is still a secret ... shhhhhh ;)
Graham's company already has a major chunk of the business. The City of Vancouver has signed a memorandum of understanding with Horizon North to provide up to 600 units with each unit should be 250-350 square feet and 300 self-contained apartments should have a unit cost of $75,000 while the other 300 would have a unit cost of $145,000. The first group of housing is slated to go to a site at 57th and Cambie.
