The most successful investment strategy available is deep value (read The Acquirer's Multiple or Deep Value by Tobias Carlisle) and that involves buying really cheap stocks. Stocks become really cheap because they have recent and immediate problems that make them look really bad, but that is the exact time when they become attractive investments. Buying bad companies at very low prices is the way to generate superior investment returns.
