Young, my opinion is do you own homework. EPS is a good place to start. Plot out the last several quarters, even years and try to get sense where a stock is headed. Acquisitions and other facts have to be considered but try to see if you spot a trend. Read all quarterly reports and year end. Also, forward earnings estimates will give you good insight. Don't get too hung up on dividends ... growth trumps all IMO.
