RE:ANLA requests additional infoGood job Mac, here is the translation.
The process of evaluation of the Environmental Impact Study of the Soto Norte project continues to advance. The Mining Society of Santander (Minesa) goes a step further in this process and will answer the request for 83 information requests from the National Environmental Licenses Authority (ANLA) with the goal of further strengthening the world class standards of this mining project .
After the presentation of the Environmental Impact Study of the Soto Norte project last August, which includes more than 4,500 pages of detailed technical information based on 10 years of studies, the ANLA has continued the evaluation process with the active participation of the Corporation to the Defense of the Meseta de Bucaramanga (CDMB) and the accompaniment of the Attorney General's Office.
The ANLA has already carried out a series of activities that strengthen the evaluation process of the project and guarantee high standards of review and participation of other entities. These activities include: (1) the technical presentation of the project, (2) technical visits to the project area and (3) the request of specialized technical concepts to expert scientific and academic institutions such as the National University School of Mines , the Alexander Von Humboldt Institute, the Colombian Geological Service, the IDEAM, National Parks, among others.
In this process, the regulator went on to the next stage of the process with the request for additional information to the company on 83 requirements on various aspects of the Soto Norte project. Last 5th and 6th of December in Bogot, ANLA, in company with other authorities and the company, held the Meeting of Request for Additional Information, reaching another important milestone in the evaluation of the Soto Norte project. The main result of this stage will be the realization of studies and analysis in key aspects of the project that serve as a valuable complement to the Environmental Impact Study previously filed.
The rigor of this ANLA request represents a clear message of tranquility to the citizens of the province of Soto Norte, the department of Santander and throughout Colombia, in the sense that the environment and socio-economic conditions in the area of project are being taken into account and protected. The main objective of this process is the generation of environmentally sustainable development, creating thousands of jobs in the region, around the first totally modern underground mine in Colombia with international operational standards.
Minesa understands that these complementary analyzes, requirements and consultations of ANLA seek to guarantee compliance with the highest regulatory standards for all operational aspects of the project. Such rigor, thoroughness and transparency provide the greatest possible security for the inhabitants of Soto Norte and the metropolitan area of Bucaramanga, that the standards implemented by the project have been evaluated and verified by Colombia's leading environmental experts.
