RE:RE:RE:Bad news :(Every industrial process produces waste. Nuclear is the only one that I am aware of where all the waste is kept at the places where it was made. In any case this material is cetainly not waste. It still contains large amounts of fissile material in the form of unburnt U235, Pu 239, Pu241 and U233. Reprocessed and fed back into the reactor it can power them for many more years. More expensive to process it than put new Uranium in the reactor right now but I would never refer to it as waste. Also has radioisotopes that can be used for cancer therapy and other medical treatments. Sound like pretty useful stuff to me.
