My Take On Today's Trading

My Take On Today's TradingI've been in stocks where those stupid little blocks of 100 shares show up trading back and forth at breakneck speeds, usually a sign of high frequency trading.  Back in 2011 I was actively trading a gold stock while leaving a big portion in.  One morning in November this stock started trading in 100 lot shares like crazy, I'd never seen anything like it.  By noon the company had traded 70million shares, with most of them being little 100 share trades not budging the price more than 5% Up or down. I didn't like and decided to bail.  The next day they released a news release stating that their resource estimate was incorrect so they couldn't count it in a NI 43-101.  The stock dropped as much as 35% that day and kept dropping for months.

My take on this is large positions knew beforehand and siphoned it through high frequency trading to sell without causing the price to crash.  The big money guys rarely loose.  Not saying that's happening here, just food for thought.
