Health Canada Licenses Two Quebec Cannabis Production Facilities
Breaking news by Alan Brochstein, CFA
Health Canada updated its website today, announcing an increase in the number of licensed producers to 82. Both of the new licenses were awarded to facilities in Quebec, including Agri-Mdic ASP Inc. and Vert Cannabis, wholly owned by Canopy Growth (TSX: WEED) (OTC: TWMJF). This doubles the number of LPs in the province to 4.
Two LPs received production licenses as well, including ABcann (TSXV: ABCN) (OTC: ABCCF) and Canada’s Island Garden. ABcann was originally licensed for cultivation in March, 2014, while Canada’s Island Garden received its license in June, 2016. Health Canada has now issued a total of 34 licenses to produce and/or sell cannabis oils.
