RE:RE:RE:RE:2018 here we come
RE:RE:RE:RE:2018 here we comeWe´ve been seing scaling up for some time, from lab to bench scale to pilot scale and now demonstration-commercial, so every challenge along the way is scale up related.
What do we need for 300 tpd and then 3000 tpd? Certainly process and material optimization as described, but in the end we have to market some modular product & service which breaks down the scale-up opportunties into physically and financially manageable contracts.
What I would read from the complete lack of numbers in that presentation is that we´re past the stage of public promotion so all numbers are now confidential. $30/ton is good enough to get our foot in the door, but otherwise meaningless. And this goes for all competitors too, with the theoretical cost per ton being now lower than the carbon tax, not just in Canada but generally, anyone with a potentially marketable product has nothing to gain by low balling. Thus the presentation focus shifts from leading technology to cost reduction, while disclosing nothing.
I don´t believe locking down a 300 tpd deal in Alberta is being held back by any scale-up challange, it´s just the politics of O&G. The presentation says there are 6 O&G opportunities under discussion so that suggests nothing has been narrowed down and I don´t expect that will change in 2018 (see MD&A pp 8-9) except that we may get some statement about the 15M grant offer being extended if it was in fact due to expire.
