If the last holes were any good...

If the last holes were any good...for what reason would they sit on them for so long? They would certainly find themselves in hot water with the commission. It only makes sense that these last holes only prove further that these high grade pods are isolated and non economical to mine, and the company wants to hide this fact in a mountain of FLUFF. I imagine the company will continue stalling. In the end either there will be a deposit worth mining or NOT but of course much money will be made and lost along the way.
