RE:Interesting comments on QH and NVOBhandari knows geology.... I thought I might share some fundamental input on way too much homework Ive done since the disappointment of the 18cores. Im now confident that the mechanical failure of the 18 effort was quite real. NO one out there understands equipment -Top Down. Before that effort The jack hammer gang was the epitome. Got a lot of over reaching high brow input in a mechanical environment. I concur with the brass you would never use those poorly managed and inconsistent results with that rushed helter skelter approach. unfortunately it was all encouraged by a lot of visible surface gold. With that personal defense I rest assured the gold hasnt gone anywhere. Purdys and Comet are not the Witts. The Witts is made up of Numerous diferent types of conglomerate gold deposits. Varying in thicknesses, sedimentology, as well as precipitation/alteration qualities. There are many gold bearing Reef horizons several are 100s of meters depth apart, and many meters thick. Most all of the gold mined is out of individual lenses less than 2 ms thick within these reefs. The most exciting lense being thin and highest grade, the carbon leader, just above the basal conglomerate (the next richest zone) The leader is still being mined 5000 meters below surface. This leader is distracting (rich) but actually only accounts for 1/4 of basin production. The balance (Only 600 million ozs.) has been mined from much less grade (7-15grs./ton) out of <2m. thick lenses from within other reef horizons throughout the basin. these 'lower grade' lenses had finaly become uneconomic at 2-3000 meters ug. with the drop in price of gold. it is important to note that sw witts sedimentology is far different from johannesburg, as the ore is more associated with higher energy channel type deposition facies. the carbon leader facies is intermittent. however 300 mil ozs came out of this sw area, which was not discovered for decades after johannesburg. all the elements associating this with johannesburg were there. carbon basal conglomerates quartzite and pyrites along with time equivalences. all of these aspects are at purdy's, the comet, and now west of the rr as well. this has been first demonstrated with metal detection. can you believe it ?! what is being done now by novo is to delineate the rich lenses near surface. would have been nice to drill 18"core into meters of grade with just the $2mil jv commitment but that didn't work. what i believe will not work now is plowing forward at this stage with 20k ton bulk sample tonnage. maybe it grade 3grs./ton, over several barren lenses? now is the time to discern what 'facies' they've engaged in this transgressive ('deltaic') lag sequence. this is what will begin to tell a tale as to which way to go for carbon or more 'basal' conglomerate or other facies changes out into the basin. there is an important historic drillhole discovered auriferous core 500+ meters above the basement with reports of gold just above basement to the se. is this upper layer reflective of the u/au rich bird reef sequence in the witts and/or is it a diverging member of upper comet auriferious lenses? as an aside as far as i can imagine at this stage degrey's deposition is as similar to purdy's as evander is to johannesburg. very diferent depositional energies. but they all have the ingredients, and i'm betting they all evolve in quality into the pilbara, and best of all the pilbara is shallow compared to south africa!. my favourite chunk of dirt is on the northern coast where the basal conglomerate subcrops in a east/west direction in crocodile country. the witts carbon looks like a nearshore wave and wind affected phenomenon striking east/west above that basal unit what blew this mc thing outta water was what i now believe was an either careless or premature nr in august, but who knows? careful core controlled trenching may tell? if this project has become about open pit for 3 million ozs. in a distracting association with dl then i get pissed. for gods sake, his radio hill can not even process this ore, downstream from stienert, at 50%. period. it's designed for unconsolidated placer!
